Horse & Anchor - Cowhide Rug Duffel - Brown/White Special Edition

When you build a special relationship with a maker, sometimes they surprise you with something they built and it's an instant "hell yes." After a few times working together, Lawrence has started to develop a pretty good sense of what gets us going. This brown and white cowhide was a random leather that he was lucky enough to get his hands on. It's a long hair masterpiece with all the details you know and love. The cowhide rugs have become increasingly harder for him to find and even create, so this may just be the last round we ever get. Don't sleep on this puppy. 

We thought deeming this the "Cowhide Rug Duffel" was appropriate as you usually don't see this material anywhere other than on a hardwood floor. The raw nature of this custom-built bag instantly drew us in. We would admit that it's not the first one we wanted because of our affinity for Japanese culture and the vintage militaria looks of the other duffles, but it very quickly became the standout of the collection. The contrast of brown and white with the brown leather base is out of this world. He also lines the bags with selvedge denim. It blows us away every time we look at the hand-hammered rivets and overall attention to detail paid to each and every bag. 

Horse and Anchor is a one-man job. He does all of this by hand and no two bags are ever exactly alike. He's using vintage materials (yay sustainability) and artisan handcrafting methods to make these bags. I think the vintage canvas and perfectly aged leather speak to everyone's affinity for the past. The designs and details are just beyond the pale of comparison. When we saw them stacked up at the Inspiration Trade show in LA, it was game over.
